The Root Cellar

I've created this blog for the purpose of sharing my collection of vintage American "Roots" music with others.

I will be posting many forms of American Roots music including blues, country blues, ragtime, mountain music, and bluegrass.

The music posted on this blog will mainly be taken from the 1920's and 1930's although occasionally I may post something from the early 1940's as well. However all of the music that I post will be acoustic based.

“Rowdy Blues” - Kid Bailey (1929)

Here is another selection from the excellent Document Records CD: “Son House And The Great Delta Blues Singers”.

Kid Bailey is another biographical unknown who recorded two songs for the “Brunswick” label in 1929.

“Rowdy Blues” was the B-side of the record (“Mississippi Bottom Blues” being the A-side) and it was recorded at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee on September 25, 1929. The identity of the second guitarist on Bailey’s two recordings is unknown
